RACIN RAMPAGE MEYER
(December 2004 - May 2013)
Racin was a beloved member of our family. She was our only child for seven years, and she loved and trusted us with her whole being. Racin was the first dog that I've ever owned, and the first Greyhound that my husband has ever owned. While I would like to say that we picked a great dog, the truth is that Racin picked us. When I was trying to "find a connection" with Racin and another Greyhound to adopt, Racin approached me and gently took my car keys out of my hands with her mouth. At that moment, the decision was made.
Racin was the sweetest, most loving and easy-going dog ever. She loved dressing up for Halloween. She loved traveling to hang out with her boxer and Greyhound cousins, she loved sandy beaches, she loved the lake, she adored camping and hiking, she loved daily walks, and mostly she loved all people.
Two months before giving birth to our first child, Racin had an amazing day. We took a long walk, a nap, and sat in the green grass with cool breezes while I petted her and massaged her for an hour. A couple of hours later, things began to go downhill. After going to the emergency room and spending the next few days trying to recover at the vet, we found out that the prognosis was poor. Racin had a brain tumor that was too painful and debilitating for her to survive. We had to say goodbye to Racin the day before Memorial Day of 2013, and that was the most painful experience we have ever gone through. There will always be a hole in our hearts for Racin. We could not have spent seven years with a more beautiful and perfect dog. Racin was cherished and touched so many lives. That is exactly how she will be remembered. We love you and miss you Moo.
